New Laptop!

I’m so excited, i finally got my new laptop! I also got a new wacom bamboo-pen aswell! I’ve waited so long to have my own pc and the ability to do digital art from the comfort of my own home. Anyways…here’s to happiness!

Im excited to be getting my tax returns towards the end of this week. I will be using the money to purchase a computer and a wacom tablet so that i can being learning more digital painting and sketching. I have a long ways to go, but this is a big step in that direction.

Been trying to be more patient about drawing and ideation. Im realizing that my biggest reason for not being able to do better work is my general lack of patience. So im just trying to put more time into actual process and working out ideas.

Cant wait to get my own computer and wacom so i can focus more on digital painting.

BACK from my winter break, so im going to be posting more often. Basically i am on a breif break from "hardcoreness" until i get my computer and tablet. I plan to use the next few weeks to do some more enjoyable work and to focus more on my graphic design stuff. I got some big stuff planned for 2010 so we will see how things go.

I started this self project under the inspiration of international self portrait day which was on november first. I successfully completed 60 days of self portraits only missing one day the whole endeavor (december 18th).

So im going to be away on break for a few weeks. That means no computer...well atleast not enough computer to do serious updates and digital painting.

Anyways...i eagerly away the new year because that means ill be starting new endeavors in my art. Upcoming i will begin doing character creation challenges and enviornmental work to continue to expand my skills.

I look foward to the future.

FINALS...FINALLY

Well my week of finals is officially finished as of 20 minutes ago. And i feel really good. I sucessfully survived Mrs.Haviland for a 2nd time (wif her crazy self...). And next quarter there is 0 chance of me having her for life-drawing 3. Anyways, i look forward the holiday break. Hopefully ill be able to spend it with that special someone of mine and relax as i finish the end of this month of self portraits.

I probably wont post any self portraits until the beginning of january at which time ill try to compile them into a special poster or something. By that time i will have done 61 Self portraits continuously for 2 months. Anyways, CIAO.

Been doing a lot of drawing lately. I feel like my raw drawing skills have grown so much and im super excited about what the future holds.

Ive been really tugging back and forth between graphic design and animation. Friday i swore that i was destined to be an animator. Today i fairly content and excited about graphic design.

Lately been re-discovering the art of sketch-booking. Its really turning into something fun now that i feel more confident and grounded. I have to keep checking myself to be sure that im not constantly comparing myself to others. I like my style but sometimes its hard not to feel inadequate against some of the amazing artists whose work i gush over.

Recently i fell in love with the work of Feng Zhu. He is a concept artist in Singapore who works with Gnomon and some of the top companies in entertainment. I have a long ways to go but i know i can do it if i keep working hard and never give up!

More Self Portraits!

Here is my past week of self portraits.
I decided that this will be my last month of self portraits which will bring me to 60 in total at the end. It's been an amazing experience filled with much learning and growth.

My eager to advance into my next project of doing daily storyboards for another 2 months or so. Im probably going to take january off then start that in feb.

im really excited to attend Industry Giants this coming summer. My goal is to get a portfolio of work ready for it so that i can begin networking and getting my name out there. Some amazing people are going to be there, i even heard Jason Manley is going to speak!

if anyone is going to Industry Giants and needs a place to crash hit me up cause i have a spare couch and bed.

Here is a quick rough recap of the last week (not including today). All of these, except the last, are done with ink pen and pastel colors over them. Been trying to play with color application lately. This week of SPs has been very enlightening!

Been slowly building up the fortitude to re-tackle digital painting. Hopefully i have learned a lot during my time away that can help me continue to grow in this area. I need to find a mentor who i can study under. Meh...all will come in due time.

T-shirt Design

Today i finished up a t-shirt design for the Dallas Gay and Lesbian Resource Center. I learned a lot on this project about being economical with color and design. This is probably the first real commission project i have worked on. Although i did it for free, it goes on my resume as a job well done. I hope there is more in the future!
